jonathan. casey. :wedding:

ready for the longest wedding post ever?… ok, good!  me too…

i have to say that one of my favorite things about doing weddings is that i get to meet & know wonderful, amazing, sweet couples…and their friends & families!!!  jonathan & casey are at the top of my “couples i love” list!  brides & grooms become more than clients…they become friends!   and as most of you know…i L-O-V-E my friends to bits!!!

the first time i heard from casey the title to her email was “hello from a real person”, not “wedding inquiry” or  “how much is this gonna cost me”…and it got better!  she told me about how we both have strong ties in oklahoma & have both ended up in durango…her wedding theme was love birds…and my music at the time was one of her favorite bands…it was love at first website review!!!  when i met with casey early this year i totally became smitten with this bride-to-be!  she is a part-salon-owner, although i’m sure there is a more technical term…she told me all about herself, her sweet fiance, & their wedding plans…i talked nonsense as i normally do…we met for coffee & chatted for quite a while!  and…to seal the deal… she was in love with my favorite wedding album which i like to refer to as “the big daddy”!  i was elated when they booked their august wedding!!!  i was even more excited about their big day after getting together with them for their engagement session.  you can see more of that by going…HERE!

jonathan & casey fell in love after jonathan booked a hair appointment with casey just to have her undivided attention for a bit…i think he mesmerized her with his locks!  they are darling, in love, & always laughing about something!  and, for the record, i have to say i have been quite obsessed the amazingness that is…jonathan’s hair!!!  if you’re not in love too by the end of this, we might not be able to be friends…  now, here is their day…

the bridesmaids loved their gifts…who doesn’t love earring… from anthropologie…
erin is kind of a rock star hair stylist… all the girls looked amazing…
the preparations are one of my favorite parts of the day… i. love. this… stephanie did her make-up & the whole time i was jealous…
every bridesmaid fussing over the bride as she puts her dress on…yes!  please!!!
that’s the tricky part about being a bridesmaid… no pockets… no purse… and you know you’re gonna cry…
mmmhmmm…getcha some hot brideness…
APRIL from BLOSSOM durango did an a-ma-zing job on the flowers…they were perfection!!!
on to the ceremony…at the lion’s den…
these two cuties were, well, the cutest…but you can probably already tell that by looking…
oh, and this little doll…she’s a fireball & so gorgeous…
i d-i-e for this moment…here comes the bride…
and this one…
yep, that’s right…he surprised her in the middle of the ceremony by playing the violin for her…
which started the waterworks…
married!!!!!!!…
hi cute bridal party…
now, this is the part where i need you to use your imagination… the tuk-tuk was supposed to pick them up & lead the cruiser parade down to town…however, they did not-I REPEAT, they did not show up!!!

please imagine that she is getting into the tuk-tuk…

and thanks to my assistant, linda, for grabbing these on their way down to town…
now to downtown for some mr. & mrs. time…
coolest reception place in town…open shutter gallery…
l-o-v-e a first dance pic with some movement!!!…
and then the crowd got wild…love it!  love it all…

Oh Jan!! These are fabulous!! I really love how you captured the day. The best part of this post is that you really feel like you were there and experienced the whole day with them. I love it!!! You are awesome!!

tammy. :pt.8:

today marks one year that tammy started chemotherapy…

i am not sure what the most difficult part of having breast cancer as a young mom is, not sure what it was for tammy…having cancer…having breast cancer…being young…being a mom…a wife…a sister…a daughter…constant poking…constant prodding…chemotherapy…huge needles…watching someone else die…friends not know what to say…friends not knowing what to do…losing your hair…losing your breasts…having a son…having a daughter…not having the ability to pick up your son & daughter…

prior to tammy’s mastectomy i thought a lot about her recovery…her sweet husband…her little babies at home.  i thought about how she was taking every chance to mother them while she was up…before she got knocked down again.    on january 10th, just four days before her mastectomy, she allowed me to come over for their evening routine…for that sweet time with her littles while they had a bath, a story, & some snuggles.  she also bravely allowed me to photograph her…she is always so brave…

ken. elaine. :slideshow:

i loved second shooting ken & elaine’s wedding with jake brooks- his partner in crime/my local photog bestie, annie, was previously engaged & i came to the rescue for a day of fun in telluride & rico for their mountain wedding…i hope you love their slide show of my favorite images…
