andrew & i just returned from a week in washington d.c. with a few days before & after in oklahoma… it was an amazing 10 days!
andrew’s parents, mimi & pa, were so generous to have a playdate with the girls for the 5 days that we were away in d.c.! and, they get extra high-fives for being snowed in with our two wild littles for almost three whole days!!! thanks mimi & pa!
we attended the national prayer breakfast! president obama, michelle obama, vice president biden, alison krauss, astronaut mark kelly, & writer, director, screenwriter, randall wallace were all about 50 yards away from me as i sipped my morning coffee & slathered cream cheese on a bagel…it was an amazing breakfast! at one point it occurred to me that i was possibly in the most dangerous room in the united states! -and, let me please make a side note & say that no matter who you voted for in the last election, president obama is the elected leader of our country & getting invited to an event that he attends is a huge honor!- our friends from all over the country & the middle east gathered together under the roof of the washington hilton…otherwise known as the hinckley hilton! we loved getting to catch up with everyone in meetings, at meals, & huddled together in the middle east/north africa suite chatting & listening to all of the languages that i wish i spoke! we even made some great new friends from the states & overseas… i am really excited to visit them all soon!
we had to fly out of oklahoma early because a storm was headed that way & we didn’t want to give up the chance to attend the events for the week. with an extra day to kill in the capitol, we decided to wander around the city a bit. andrew worked there in college & i visited several times as a young child, but my memory of most of it is quite vague. i didn’t want to take my camera on the trip, so i stuck my lumix in my purse & andrew brought the hasselblad with a bunch of film. here are our results via hasselblad & lumix…
for those of you that responded to my facebook message & tweet…i chose a j.crew jacket, blouse, & pencil skirt with black tights & black patent louboutins, with a little jcrew sparkle… it only seemed right to go preppy-chic… thanks for the advice friends!!!
