SoCal… with the image is found.

i spent a day in southern california at a private shootshop with nate kaiser, one half of the amazing duo that is the image is found.  it was a brain busting day of questions & answers… worth every penny & a day of my beach vacation for sure!  i walked away with so much information… it’s been over a month & i’m still processing!  i love seeing how other photographers shoot & learning their methods for posing, locations, & how they make the kinds of photos that we all love & expect from them… nate’s methods are like no other… very refreshing!  we got to shoot this darling couple too!  stone & shelby moved from colorado to southern california recently, and they’re photographers… are they not the cutest california-looking couple… check them out here!!!  i spent more time watching & note-taking than shooting, &  grabbed these…

stone & shelby… you two were so sweet & a beautiful couple!  i’m so glad i got to meet you guys!

nate… thank you for the advice, encouragement, & hilarity… i appreciate you!

we’ll be seeing them again soon… we’re returning for family photos in the fall with the image is found… guess how flippin’ crazy excited i am about that!!!

notice something different?

this is the new, temporary look of my blog!  my beloved bird & olives, well, they’re facing a re-brand & i’m not quite sure that they’ll be making the cut for where i’m taking this little boutique business of mine!  oh sure, i could wait to change everything until the re-brand is finished, but that would be way too simple… and i’m ready for a change now however temporary it may be!  i like change!  i like the way it stretches us, forces us to fight resistance, breaks us out of our monotony, teaches us new things, allows us to reinvent something… i just really like the feeling of something fresh & new after the hard work is complete!  am i the only one?…

somehow, and i cannot figure out exactly how, five whole years have passed since our sweet first born daughter was welcomed into our lives!  i remember it like it was yesterday… she was like magic!  olivia is the sweetest, most thoughtful child that i know!  her imagination inspires me & her hugs make everyday better!  she starts every conversation with “guess what!”  and she always wants to tell me a story!  we are so proud of our oldest little!  we loved celebrating may 24th as her special day… happy birthday amazing olivia!

hunter. brooklyn. mama. papa. :mini-session:

i love these children!

photographing extended family members is not something i do very oftern, but when tammy asked me to do a session with justin’s parents while they were in town i couldn’t pass up a chance to meet more of this wonderful family… so of course i said yes!  a i mini-session is the perfect way to capture this sweet bond between grandparents & grandchildren!  they have special names for their sweet texas grandparents… hope i got them right!  it was a fun little session…  hunter & brooklyn are getting so big!
