patrick. rachel. :wedding: glacier club. durango, co

patrick & rachel had a very romantic beginning… they are both from durango & both went to medical school, but never really spent time together until they happened to cross paths one new years eve night.  that night, at a famous durango dive, they shared their first kiss & rang in the new year together!  the story that they tell is that the next morning at breakfast patrick told everyone around the breakfast table that he met the woman that he was going to marry!  he also added that she was a hot-nerd… a sentiment that makes rachel giggle when they recite the story of their beginning!  they make a great match… i love how they compliment one another!

rachel is sweet, calm, & witty… patrick is hilarious, kind, & looks forward to being a stay-at-home dad one day… once they both finish their residencies, of course!  i secretly hope they’ll move back to durango one day so i can be best friends with them!  they had a beautiful wedding at the glacier club in early june & didn’t even mind when the smoke rolled in from the arizona fires to give a white glow to everything outside.

i am so excited to introduce this newly married dr./dr. couple to you!  enjoy…

and, to see the full wedding slideshow go… HERE!

this wedding season we decided to introduce our hasselblad film cameras to my work & i was thrilled with the results!  patrick & rachel will get up to 10 fine art film prints shot from my vintage hasselblad!

patrick & rachel… you two were so fun to work with!  thank you for allowing me to capture your wedding day & for treating me like family!  i hope that you love your images as much as i do!  blessings, js

chattanooga… with amber holritz.

this spring i participated in the thirst relief mentor auction which donates all proceeds toward fresh water wells & fresh, clean drinking water to remote areas of the world… & won two photographer mentor sessions… yay me!!!

in early april i had the privilege of spending a day with the amazing amber holritz… she is the lifestyle baby photographer & now i’ve elbowed my way in enough to call her a friend!  amber is hilarious, matter of fact, & brilliant… everything i like in a friend!  i traveled to the big city of chattanooga, tn to chat with her about the how & the why & the craziness of being mom+photographer.  after a delightful lunch where we did more talking & laughing than eating, i went on a tag-a-long lifestyle session where i got to see how she runs one of her famous, completely un-posed lifestyle shoots… it was wonderful!  this family is super fun, & these two precious little girls were keeping us busy with all of the fun family time that they love to spend together!  this real-life family inspired me to change how i run the show with my own clients & made me realize the type of session that i want to have… and why i cherish real life over posed life!!!

this is what i love!  real families, doing real things… these are the memories we carry with us… these are treasured moments to never forget!  this is why i love families…

thank you amber!
